NEW MUSIC: EJ Jackson Releases “Soul Vaccine”

Few artists come along that command your attention right away.  With an unorthodox sound that is not quite gospel, not quite R&B and not totally hip-hop, EJ Jackson (real name Eric Jackson Jr.) is just that artist. Hailing from Gary, Indiana, this 19 year-old musician has the recipe for success and on October 28th he released what he believes the world needs, a “Soul Vaccine.”

Soul Vaccine” is EJ’s latest EP and just like its creator, it is difficult to categorize.  EJ labeled it R&B and the project peaked at #27 on the iTunes R&B charts; amongst the likes of Chris Brown, Leon Bridges and Ty Dolla $ign.  The 4 track EP, which includes his hit single “Hold Me Down” is experimental and soulful, but with a runtime of only 11 minutes it leaves the listener wanting more.

Covering an array of topics including, faith, family and depression, “Soul Vaccine” is inspiring and stimulating.  Having been kidnapped at the age of 5, thankfully returned unharmed, EJ has a great deal of experience to pull creativity from.  Watching him perform live and listening to his music, it is not hard to tell that Mali Music is a source of influence.  EJ considers Mali his “idol” and was beyond excited to open for the Grammy nominated artist earlier this year in Chicago.

EJ hopes people are inspired and made to feel uncomfortable when they listen to his music.  As the title suggests, this project was created so that people can dig deep into their souls and correct the chaos in their lives.

Soul Vaccine” is currently available on all digital outlets.
