Andy Mineo Releases The Sword EP

Andy Mineo just released the second installment of his EP series and the new project is entitled II: The Sword-EP.  The new EP is a follow up to I: The Arrow -EP which was released earlier this year.  Andy hinted that there would be more music coming this year and this new release confirms it.

The Sword is more uplifting and peaceful than The Arrow which was mostly dark and dealt with weighty subject matter.  Although the new EP continues the journey of Andy navigating through pain and turmoil, according to him, he’s “reconstructing everything I once believed in;” the feelings expressed by Andy on The Arrow are now being worked out on The Sword. On songs like “None of My Business” and “Friends,” Andy seems to be freeing himself from damaging relationships and people’s false perception of him.

“Donuts” which features the legendary Phonte is pure hip-hop and the nostalgic feel is refreshing. The declaration on “Shame” that “Jesus washes away all of my sins” is invigorating and the perfect way to end this just about perfect album.  This new project like much of Andy’s work is eclectic and offers something for all music fans.

Andy Mineo has had an eventful year thus far.  Not only has he released a great deal of new music, received a gold plaque for his single “You Can’t Stop Me,” he’s also preparing to go out on tour with label mate and CEO Lecrae this fall.

The New York bred emcee is doing this all while dealing with the passing of his mother in August.  Fans know how close Andy was to his mother and many of his supporters took to social media to offer their condolences and comfort. The Reach Records all-star has put all of his feelings, no matter how vulnerable, into his music which makes for great art.

The Sword is available on all digital outlets and you can purchase tickets to the Better Late Than Never Tour featuring Lecrae and Andy Mineo here.
