Joshua’s Troop, under the leadership and tutelage of Percy Gray Jr., has been a platform for young people in the city of Chicago for over a decade.  The choir is made up of dozens of millennials from all over the city and surrounding areas.  They have performed on stages all across the country, been nominated for multiple awards and put out multiple great projects including their biggest hit to date, “Everybody Clap Your Hands.”

On Sunday March 19th, arguably the hottest artist in music – Chance The Rapper, tweeted that he was trying to get in touch with Joshua’s Troop.

To their surprise, Chance was inviting the choir to come perform at his Open Mike Chicago event, which he puts on monthly for high school students across the city, the very next day.  The event, which has seen performances by Kanye West, Vic Mensa, and Chance himself, is a way for Chance to not only give back, but inspire thousands of young teens across the city of Chicago and Joshua’s Troop helped to do just that.  Chance, who has been open about his faith in God and the gospel influence in his music, promises that this won’t be the last time he reaches out to Joshua’s Troop.

If that wasn’t thrilling enough, on Saturday, March 25th, the Troops received their first Stellar Award at the 32nd annual Stellar Awards show in Las Vegas in the Youth Project of the Year category for their latest single “It’s My Time.”  All of this excitement is sure to energize the already youthful bunch and they will have much more in store throughout the year!  Be sure to keep up with Joshua’s Troop by following them on Twitter @JoshuasTroop.
