New Music: D.T.S “Murder the Rap Game”

Witnessing the evolution of an artist can be an interesting dynamic.   Like our favorite athletes, we hate to see our favorite artists lose a step.  Watching someone go from windmill slam dunks to missing an easy layup that any 9 year old in AAU can make is disheartening.  On the other hand, when someone you’ve rooted for all your life takes it up notch and executes at a level you didn’t even think possible, you are left awe inspired.  The latter rings true in the case of the latest release from Chicago native D.T.S (Death to Self) entitled “Murder the Rap Game” produced by DFree.

According to D.T.S, “Murder the Rap Game was written because I’ve been hurt and frustrated with the current state of rap music and I can no longer sit back and not say or do anything about it.”  It’s been over two years since we’ve heard anything new from D.T.S and it’s clear he’s back with a vengeance.  He even picked up some tricks during his hiatus; recording, mixing and mastering his own work.

“Murder the Rap Game” is raw, emotional and masterful.  It’s a must listen for anyone that loves the genre of Hip Hop music.
