Our condolences and prayers are with Toby Mac and his family today as they have learned of the sudden passing of his oldest son Truett Foster. Very few details about his passing have been released. A representative has confirmed that Truett (aka truDog, TRU and/or Shiloh ) passed away at his home in Nashville sometime Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

The cause of death has not yet been fully confirmed. But, we do know that medics were called to the home at around 11 a.m. on October 23 after a friend found McKeehan unresponsive. According to several sources, the 911 caller said that McKeehan had suffered from a cardiac arrest.

McKeehan was the oldest child of TobyMac and Amanda McKeehan. In addition to his parents, McKeehan is survived by his siblings, twins, Moses and Marlee, and sons, Leo and Judah. Toby was traveling back from Canada and did not get home to be with his family until after midnight last night so there is no statement. The family is asking for privacy during this time as they take this time to grieve their loss.

Last year, TobyMac released a song called “Scars” that reflected on how his relationship with Truett (his oldest son) started changing after he left home to live on his own to pursue music in Los Angeles. In a separate interview TobyMac said,

“As parents it’s an instinct to protect your children from “life’s hardships. So to see them go out there and do this real world, it’s painful. Up to now, [our home’s] been a safe harbor, a place of love… He moved to L.A. and he’s making music, and he’s doing his thing. But to watch him go through that, and watch him get bruised, it’s not easy. In that song, I just want him to know he’s not alone.”
