Chance has made several appearances where he has shown each time that he isn’t afraid to talk about Jesus on national television. Just in time for Christmas, Chance used his time on SNL to do it one more time along with Chicago-based vocal group Third Story!  Chance performed his single, Finish Line/Drown which is featured on his album Coloring Book/Mixtape.

Originally performed featuring Kirk Franklin, T-Pain and Chicago-based up and coming artists Eryn Allen Kane, and Noname, the song carries a strong gospel influence typically heard in Kirk Franklin’s music mixed with a lot of style and heart from Chance The Rapper.

In 2014, Chance spoke to HipHopDX about his love for Gospel music and Kirk Franklin:

“I grew up in the church,” he said. “The song [“surf”] specifically is dedicated to my grandmother who kept me intochurch so that’s a big feel on a new thing. [Kirk Franklin] is a musical genius. He put together a lot of that stuff. He’s a choir director, dream musician.”

Prior to his performance, Chance released the following tweet to his fans…
