New Fall Reads from Michelle Obama, John Gray and More!
With the cooler fall and winter months already upon us, why not get lost in good book? Here are some new and upcoming releases to add to your playlist or bookshelf:
1. “Win from Within: Finding Yourself by Facing Yourself ,” John Gray
Pastor and media personality John Gray recently released his new book, “Win from Within,” to help readers to win from within by facing our inner struggles. Using Biblical principles, Gray takes on bad habits, limiting patterns and more so that we can become the best versions of ourselves as God intended. “Get this book and let it speak to you as you emerge from the battles of your life and walk into the purposed place God intended for you all along! And you’ll want to read it from the beginning because the foreword was penned by none other than Steven Furtick!” Gray shared last week on his Instagram page. Keep up with Pastor Gray as he makes several speaking engagements and book signings this fall.
2. “Becoming,” Michelle Obama
The former First Lady of the United States penned a highly anticipated memoir on the experiences that have made her who she is today. From her upbringing on the south side of Chicago to her time as serving as First Lady, the wife of former President Barack Obama and mother of two, Michelle Obama shares personal insights with readers. Her second book,”Becoming” debuts on November 13th the same date as the kickoff of her nationwide book tour moderated by her special guests including Oprah Winfrey, Valerie Jarrett, Reese Witherspoon and more.
3. “Us Against the World: Our Secrets to Love, Marriage, and Family,” David and Tamela Mann
Singing and acting duo David and Tamela Mann have been married for 30 years and are sharing their life and love together that many have come to know on the big and small screen. Not only have they played husband and wife on television, they have recorded music together, toured, and managed their big family. Whether you’re single or married, you can get some keys to maintaining a solid Christian marriage and family while balancing careers and purpose. Releasing on November 13th of this year, the Manns are offering their new single “Good Love” for free with your book pre-order.
4. “When Your Bad Meets His Good: Find Purpose in Your Pain,” Kim Jones-Pothier
Known all over social media as Real Talk Kim, Pastor Kimberly Jones-Pothier is a dynamic speaker, preacher and minister. In her new book she shares her testimony of recovery from hard times, divorce and brokenness to understanding God’s plan in it all. “The points in this book are all about perception shifts—learning how to take the bad and shift it for our good.” Pothier wants readers to change their perspectives on their trials and hard seasons and see those experiences as part of “life college.” “When You Bad Meets His Good” is available on December 4th.
5. “Make Room: Finding Where Faith Fits,” Jonathan McReynolds
Jonathan McReynolds took some time between making new music to write a book based on Scripture and his own personal experiences. He is not only a songwriter, but also a blogger via his site, Life Room Talk, sharing thought provoking takes on topics affecting Christian Millennials, musicians, and more. In “Make Room”, McReynolds’ endeavors to encourage readers to make more room for God in their everyday lives, both in public and in private, to grow through an authentic relationship with God. The foreword is also written by his fellow brother in Gospel music, Travis Greene. Her newest project, Hold it All Together is sleek R&B sound that gives a new take on what gospel music can be presented to the world. When asked about her inspiration, ADIA says, “This is a very special transparent project for me. I really dug deep on this project as a songwriter. David Michael Wyatt is rightfully known as “The Velvet Voice”! He has most currently been known for singing on tour with Tobe Nwigwe where he has received praise from artists such as Beyonce, Erica Badu and more! But, now he’s making his own pathway as a solo artist.
On August 26th, the ArtSoul Radio team is partnering up with Aspire Booking to bring David to The Promontory in Hyde Park Chicago! We are excited to have been asked to help create and plan this event while also taking on the full promotion of it for this date. Supporting both local artists and mainstream is our passion and something we have done on a regular basis for almost a decade. So, saying “Yes” to this invitation was easy! Our team is excited about pouring all of our efforts and resources into this partnership to help make it a success!
In addition to David Michael Wyatt, we made sure that the night will include a few top tier Chicago local artists such as Rahkii (a Previous ArtSoul Spotlight artist), Ephraim Bugumba (an Aspire Booking client) and Jasmine Sims (another ArtSoul Spotlight artist). Our host for the night is one of Chicago’s favorite Gospel Radio personalities Keno Greer! It’s going to be a great night! You don’t want to miss it!
While it’s true that David Michael Wyatt has a growing fan base that includes some of the greatest artists we’ve ever seen to grace a stage, this Texarkana native has spent years perfecting his musical talents to get where he is today. This Berklee College of Music alumni, is a singer, songwriter and actor whose music fits perfectly into multiple genres including Gospel and R&B. Wyatt was part of BET’s Sunday Best gospel talent show, has shared the stage with well-known singers such as Kirk Franklin and has been been featured on Grammy Award Winner Israel Houghton’s albums and has entertained leaders such as the previous President-Elect Barack Obama. Outside of his solo endeavors, David can be seen touring with Brian Courtney Wilson and Ledisi.
This is the first in person event ArtSoul Radio has done since before the Pandemic and it has been an exciting experience for us to team up with Aspire Booking so our team can get our creative juices running again by helping to create this event for fans and taking on the full promotion for it.
This is also the first time some of the featured local artists have performed live in Chicago since the start of the pandemic. Needless to say, we’re ALL excited to be back outside y’all!
